The common admission test was conducted by the University, for the admission of meritorious candidates to various undergraduate programmes and MBA and M.Tech programmes offered at IMU and its 36 affiliated.It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, reasearch and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to acheive exellence in these areas institutes.
Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a Central University that was established by an Act of the Parliament in the year 2008.
